Will Cristiano Ronaldo be wearing red again?
News broke on Friday that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid as well as La Liga because of how the Spanish media has handled the tax fraud allegations that surround him.
Spanish news outlet Marca broke the news.
Completely outraged by the complaint from the Prosecutor’s Office, which accuses him of defrauding 14.7 million euros from the Treasury, Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly wants to leave Spain.
The decision would be irreversible and has apparently already been communicated to Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez.
“Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Spain,” was the resounding headline from Friday’s A Bola newspaper.
The Portuguese daily had already intimated that Real were going to receive an offer of 180 million euros from either Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain or Monaco for the player.
OK so Ronaldo supposedly wants out now. But is this for real? Is he really going to leave Real Madrid after winning a second straight Champions League title?
Manchester United certainly do make the most sense if Ronaldo were to leave this summer since that’s where he truly became a star in world football.
But would Ronaldo be intrigued by the idea of dominating Ligue 1 in France and helping Paris Saint-Germain finally lift a Champions League trophy? I honestly don’t think so.
Ligue 1 is a joke of a league and winning their won’t help his legacy.
Now if Ronaldo did head back to United and helped them win another Premier League title and maybe a Champions League title, that would be quite a story.
As of right now though, I wouldn’t be holding my breathe for Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford. It’s going to take a lot for that to happen.
