Manchester United have their work cut out for them against Real Madrid.
Even though Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup is essentially a glorified friendly, it will be a big test for Manchester United as they prepare to face off against last seasons’s Champions League winners in Real Madrid.
I’ve come up with four players that you should pay extra attention to when watching Tuesday’s match.
Romelu Lukaku will have quite a test as he gets ready to face of against centre-back Sergio Ramos and the rest of Real Madrid’s defense. This game may only be a friendly, but he has a chance to prove himself against the best club in the world.
Los Blancos did struggle on defense during their preseason tour in the United States. It will be interesting to see if they’ve fixed their problems.
Real have a very good midfield and I’m looking forward to see how well Paul Pogba plays against the likes of Luka Modric, Tony Kroos and Casemeiro.
Manchester United are hoping that Pogba’s first season back with the club was just a bump in the road. He has a lot to prove this season.
Victor Lindelof struggled at times during the preseason and will have a big test when it comes to keeping Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in check.
Unfortunately for Lindelof he won’t have centre-back Eric Bailly by his side to help him out. He has a lot to prove against a great team on Tuesday.
No one knows whether or not Cristiano Ronaldo is going to play against United or not. But whether he does or not, fullback Antonio Valencia will have his work cut out for him against either Ronaldo or Gareth Bale.
Valencia must show the world that last season wasn’t a fluke for him and that he’s one of the top fullbacks in the world.
