Manchester United clearly weren’t good enough against Real Madrid.
Manchester United had a tough task ahead of them against Real Madrid during Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup.
Unfortunately the Reds couldn’t pull out a win and lost 2-1 to a better club in Los Blancos.
Here are my takeaways from United’s loss to Real.
United can’t control the match against great clubs.
Looking back at Manchester United’s preseason match against Barcelona and this match against Real Madrid, the Reds don’t have the talent to control a match against a great club.
This is exactly why the Glazers have to fork over more money this summer if they want to have a chance at winning the Premier League as well as cracking the knock out stages of the Champions league.
Defense is a problem.
Manchester United’s defense looked shaky during their summer tour and not much changed in the Super Cup.
The Reds clearly missed Eric Bailly and as an overall unit struggled against Isco, Gareth Bale and the rest of Real Madrid’s attack.
Jesse Lingard shouldn’t be starting.
I like Jesse Lingard. I think he’s a good player, but I don’t get why he’s starting over Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Lingard doesn’t possess the threat and explosiveness that Martial and Rashford have when they’re on the pitch.
